
Dr. Mukund Jagannathan is a well known, academically oriented Plastic Surgeon. In addition to being the Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Fortis Hospital, he is also the Professor and Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at a major University hospital in Mumbai. He is one of the youngest Heads of Department. He is a teacher for Plastic Surgery in Mumbai University and is also an examiner in Plastic Surgery in several Universities in India. He has a very wide and extensive experience in Plastic Surgery, more than 17 years. His special areas of interest and expertise are Craniofacial, Cleft and Aesthetic surgery. He has trained several Plastic Surgeons in India and has also delivered lectures to trainees on his visits abroad. He serves on the Editorial board of the Indian Journal of Plastic Surgery, and has also reviewed articles for international journals. He has around 17 to 18 international publications to his credit.
He received the Hargobind scholarship for a three month visiting fellowship in 2000 for the Institute for Craniofacial and Reconstructive surgery at Providence Hospital, Southfield, Michigan, under the able guidance of Dr. Ian Jackson. Here, he had a wide exposure to complex craniofacial and cleft surgery as well as aesthetic surgeries in large numbers. He had occasion to visit the institute again for two weeks in April 2005. He also visited the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital (MEETH) in May this year, where he gained exposure to large volumes of aesthetic procedures, done by pioneers like Drs. Sherell Aston and Daniel Baker. He also spent two weeks visiting Dr. Rollin Daniel in Newport Beach. Dr. Daniel is an acknowledged master in rhinoplasty. He has also visited aesthetic surgery centres in Bahrain.
