Restorative Dentistry Dental Bridge General Description Bridges are artificial devises to replace one or more teeth. It is very important to keep your teeth, crowns and bridges clean. It is advisable to brush your teeth twice a day to keep dental hygiene using a brush, dental floss and cleansers. Remember that the success or failure of your crowns or bridges depend greatly on the care you provide them and on periodical visits to the dentist. The health of your mouth and personal appearance are worth the effort! Technical description Procedure To replace a lost tooth with a bridge, adjoining teeth must be prepared for the crowns. The tooth and crowns are put together as a single piece, cemented to adjoining stumps. Once placed, the patient cannot remove the bridge. The procedure is similar to a crown, but it tales longer to build the bridge. Addition Options In some cases, a resin-based bridge called Maryland Bridge could be used.
